CHAPTER 46 A LOVE STORY
The Viscountess woke Jane one morning, throwing the curtains apart and letting the morning sun seep through the windows.
"Be up this instant, Jane," she announced. "The future Duke arrives in a few days and your wardrobe begs for a change of clothing."
Jane couldn't protest.
Mrs. Fitzwilliam led Jane through the bustling streets of town, her eyes fixed on the sign above a nearby shop: "Taylor's Fine Clothing". She pushed open the door, and a bell above it rang out as they entered.
"Good day, Mrs. Fitzwilliam!" the tailor exclaimed, his face creasing into a warm smile. "What can I do for you today?"
"Good day, Mr. Taylor," Mrs. Fitzwilliam replied, her voice brisk and efficient. "I've brought my daughter, Jane, to be fitted for a new wardrobe. She's to be wed soon, you see."
Mr. Taylor's eyes lit up with congratulations. "Ah, how wonderful! I'm honored to be a part of her preparations. Let's get started right away!"
