CHAPTER 45 REKINDLING SPARKS
As Jane entered the stables, she spotted Max grooming a beautiful chestnut mare. She approached him with a casual air, trying to conceal her true intentions.
"Max, I see you're still working your magic with the horses," she said, running her hand over the mare's mane.
Max looked up, his eyes meeting hers with a hint of wariness. "Just doing my job, Jane."
Jane leaned against the stall door, her gaze fixed on the horse. "I've always loved horses, but I never had the talent or patience to work with them like you do."
Max shrugged, his expression softening slightly. "It's just something I've always been good at, I guess. I'm very good with animals."
As they chatted about horses, Jane secretly prayed that Max would rekindle his feelings for her. She couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck.
Max, however, seemed oblivious to her charms, his focus solely on the horses. Jane's heart sank,
