When they reached the rented house, Olivia and Hyacinth emerged, their faces etched with concern. Jane, overwhelmed by the day's events, leaned heavily on Lucian as he helped her out of the horse-drawn carriage.
The sight of them, Jane visibly shaken and leaning on Lucian, spoke for itself. Olivia and Hyacinth exchanged a grim look, but said nothing, their understanding a silent comfort.
