Daphne's POV
Javion looked at me, his eyes filled with pain. “Daphne, I know this is hard. I know you want justice. But killing her won’t bring our son back. It won’t heal our pain.”
“What?! But she’s a monster!” I cried, tears streaming down my face. “She doesn’t deserve mercy!”
He shook his head, his expression resolute. “I won’t become a monster to defeat one. I won’t let her turn me into something I’m not.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “This is madness,” I whispered, more to myself than to him. “You’re choosing her over our son?”
“No,” he said firmly. “I’m choosing to be better. I’m choosing to honor our son’s memory by not letting hatred consume me.”
Saxera remained on her knees, a strange mixture of relief and regret on her face. “You’re a fool, Javion,” she said quietly. “But maybe, just maybe, you’re a better man than I ever gave you credit for.”
