Chapter Thirty-Eight - Chase
The next morning, I pried my eyes open and blinked up at the ceiling. I wasn’t a big drinker, but whatever the Alpha King had in that scotch was strong.
I groaned and rolled over to my side, noticing the clock read 6 AM.
I needed to get up and go home. I missed Willow, but more importantly, I needed to figure out what I could from the Alpha King.
I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and got out of bed. I hurried in the shower, gathered my belongings and left my duffle next to the door.
The distant sound of chatter in the dining hall drew me over. I walked through the winding halls, following the Alpha King’s voice and the smell of breakfast.
When I stepped in, he sat at the same table from the night before, with two plates on the table, while chatting with a chef from the kitchen.
“Good morning,” he said. “I wasn’t sure what time you’d wake, but I figured you’d want to get back home early to see your Luna.”
