Chapter Thirty-Seven - Willow
The tears in my eyes escaped down my cheek.
I hated myself for being so weak. Derrick stepped toward me and pulled me in for a hug. I buried my head into the crook of his neck and cried like a baby. Much like I did in private when we were children. He'd always been my rock before Chase. I loved him for it.
My entire body was tired from the drama. My mind raced with what-ifs. What if the Alpha King and the court decided to hurt him?
It would be my fault. His own Luna got him punished, because of her need for vengeance. Derrick rubbed his palm over my back. “It’s okay, Willow. You don’t even know what’s going to happen. He’s an Alpha, he can take it.”
“He shouldn’t have to,” I whispered. “I need to go.”
Derrick pulled back and looked at me with those dark, kind eyes. “You don’t. You’ll make it worse. He’ll contact you soon, and everything will be okay. Let’s forget the run. How about a movie in your room?”
I sniffled and wiped my eyes. “I’m not going to be good company tonight.”
