Chapter Thirty - Chase
Regis stalled in the doorway.
“Come inside, Regis.”
His face was reluctant. He was smart enough to know that I didn’t call him in here to chitchat. He did as I asked, and sat down across from me.
Leaning back, his fingers tightened around the arms of his chair. He noticed the mark on my neck and quickly shifted his gaze away from me. “Is everything okay?” he asked.
My wolf was judging whether he was guilty or not. I didn’t know him well enough to tell instantly. I pointed toward a folded-up letter on my desk. “Why don’t you read that to me, Regis.”
He looked at it, slowly reached across the desk to grab it, and opened it slowly. His gaze swept over the letter, but his mouth didn’t move. “I don’t understand …”
“Do you not?” I asked, leaning my elbows against my desk. “This is what happens when you turn an alpha in for disobedience. They get called to the regional court.”
