Chapter Twenty-Nine - Willow
Dad’s scent lingered in the air as I sliced through the lobby and toward the front door. He had breakfast at the same time every morning, giving me forty-two minutes to get to his house and back.
Not knowing what I was looking for would hinder me, but I had to try nonetheless.
There were hardly any wolves out because of breakfast, so I slipped toward the family homes and toward my father’s house.
The porch was bare of any muddy boots or footprints and the front door was unlocked. The pack grounds were well protected, so we didn't have to worry about someone breaking in.
Well, except for me.
Dad’s cologne hung heavily in the air of the house. A few plates sat out on the kitchen counter, but besides that, everything looked put together.
I walked into the living room, my gaze shifting over his furniture and the mantel with my mother’s picture.
The calmness had me holding my breath. I walked around to the kitchen and then toward the stairs. My father’s room sat nestled into the back
