CHAPTER FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY – CLOSE INSPECTION
"Well," Inspector Ramirez said, "I suppose I should follow local custom." She knocked three times on the closet door before opening it to reveal the now-tidy interior.
The rest of the inspection passed in a blur of nervous energy and barely contained panic. But finally, after what felt like hours, Inspector Ramirez closed her clipboard with a snap.
"Well, ladies," she said, her tone neutral, "I have to say, I'm impressed. Despite your... unconventional methods, La Dulce Vida meets all our health and safety standards. In fact, you've passed with flying colors."
Jasmine and Lola exchanged looks of stunned disbelief. They'd done it? They'd actually passed?
"Thank you," Jasmine managed to say, her voice weak with relief. "We take our responsibilities very seriously."
"Indeed," Inspector Ramirez replied. Was that a twinkle in her eye? "Especially when it comes to ghost etiquette, it seems. Keep up the good work."
