CHAPTER THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THREE – DOUBLE AGENTS
Later that night, as the Cesaro forces moved out to strike at the Moretti family's vulnerable positions, Jasmine sat alone in the bistro office. She stared at the phone, knowing that soon, Carla would call with new information from the Moretti camp.
The door creaked open, and Marco slipped in, still dressed in his combat gear. "Shouldn't you be celebrating?" he asked, a crooked smile on his face.
Jasmine shrugged. "Someone has to mind the store."
Marco crossed the room, pulling her into his arms. "You're amazing, you know that? What you did today... it's changed everything."
Jasmine looked up at him, her heart swelling with emotion. "I did it for us. For the family."
Marco leaned down, his lips brushing hers. "I know. And I love you for it."
As they kissed, Jasmine felt a pang of guilt. She was keeping secrets from Marco, from the man she loved. But she pushed the feeling aside. This was war, and in war, sometimes secrets were necessary.
