CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT – THE CONFUSED OLD MAN
Back at Rosie's Bed & Breakfast, Jasmine and Emily collapsed onto their beds, still buzzing with energy from the dance.
"I can't believe you won!" Emily exclaimed, propping herself up on an elbow to look at Jasmine. "You were amazing out there!"
Jasmine smiled, twirling the small trophy in her hands. "I can't believe it either. I haven't danced like that in... years."
As the adrenaline began to wear off, a comfortable silence fell between them. Jasmine's smile slowly faded, replaced by a pensive look.
Emily noticed the change in her friend's demeanor. "Jas? What's on your mind?"
Jasmine sighed, setting the trophy aside. "I don't know, Em. It's just... tonight was incredible, but..."
"But what?" Emily prompted gently.
"But it doesn't change anything, does it?" Jasmine's voice quivered slightly. "I mean, we'll go back home, and I'll still be... lost."
Emily sat up, her expression serious. "Talk to me, Jas. What's really going on?"
