Calvin seemed taken aback by my coldness, and his gaze filled with confusion.
He was used to me chasing after him. Now that I'd said I didn't need anything, it must've seemed strange to him.
But maybe he didn't understand—it wasn't a sudden change that I didn't need those things.
He grew a bit agitated and pushed me against the sink. "You don't need them? What do you mean? You should know there are many occasions you'll need to be present as my wife. How can you say you don't need them?"
I looked at him coolly, my eyes showing no emotion. When I'd needed them the most, he'd refused to give them to me. Now that I didn't need them, he was insisting on making me accept them.
