Chapter 66: A Humiliation She'd Never Experienced Before
Townsend’s gaze reflected three parts disappointment, four parts sympathy for Alicia, and three parts confusion.
“Yolanda, what are you doing causing such a scene here? Don’t you dare think so lowly of our relationship. Even if we weren’t old classmates, I’m still a doctor at this hospital. Am I not allowed to comfort a patient?”
Yolanda stared at Townsend in disbelief. She had been close to him for so long, but this was the first time he had ever raised his voice at her. And worse, it was because of Alicia.
The fact that Townsend had scolded her, and all because of Alicia, left Yolanda feeling more unbalanced than ever.
“Why are you defending this woman, Townsend? She’s vile and should be thrown into the pits of hell with demons! How can she deserve your care or Nathen’s attention? She shouldn’t even be allowed to look at you!”
Her emotions spiraled out of control as she spoke, inching closer to Alicia, her hand raised again as if to strike.
