Chapter 30: An Uninvited Guest
That day, when Alicia was crouching on the street by a lamppost, hugging her knees and crying, Charles approached her. He bent down and handed her an umbrella.
That single gesture made Charles a permanent source of light in Alicia’s heart.
What surprised Alicia the most was that the painting she had lent to the art club for an exhibition, just for a few days, had somehow been noticed by Townsend’s grandfather.
As Townsend brought up the topic, his eyes glistened with anticipation.
“Alicia! I have a small favor to ask,” he said.
Alicia looked up at him. “Tell me, as long as it's something I can do, I’d be happy to help.”
Townsend hesitated a little before explaining, “Well, it’s my grandfather’s birthday in two weeks. He told me he really liked your painting. If possible, would you be able to paint something for him as a birthday gift?”
