Chapter 18 So Pitiful
Alex's voice was cold and indifferent.
Oliver took a deep breath, then said, "Alex, this is between Olivia and me. You don't need to intervene."
With that, he moved to grab Olivia.
But Alex stepped directly in front of him, his expression extremely serious. "If that's the case, then there's no need for you to get engaged to Rosa."
Alex's face was dark, his tone leaving no room for refusal.
Upon hearing this, Oliver was immediately frightened, unable to utter a word.
If he really called off the engagement with Rosa, he didn't know how she would react.
"Alex, ‘m sorry." With that, Oliver turned and left.
Olivia stood still, biting her lip tightly, remaining silent for a long time.
Alex's icy gaze fell on Olivia's face, his voice low and deep. "Miss Hall, get in the car. Let's talk."
Olivia's body trembled slightly, her eyes lowered, afraid to meet Alex's gaze.

Jillian dared not speak and quickly left the scene.
Olivia sighed helplessly and had no choice but to open the rear door and get into the car. Alex also got in and sat beside Olivia.
The car started quickly and drove off.
After some contemplation, Olivia spoke, "Mr. Adams, I didn't flirt with him."
At her words, Alex's face darkened, and his voice became indifferent. "I didn't say you did."
“Okay,” Olivia responded with a nod and then looked out the window.
In an instant, the atmosphere in the car became somewhat heavy, plummeting to freezing point.
The car soon arrived at the Flowery Villa.
A black car happened to be driving towards them, quickly stopping in front of them.
Olivia raised her head to check and realize that it was Peter's car.
Peter said, "Alex, I need to talk to you,"
Upon hearing that, Alex got out of his car and walked towards Peter.
Olivia also got out of the car, carrying her backpack, and walked towards the entrance of the villa.
She didn’t enter the villa, nor did she follow Alex. She simply kept her distance from him.
Peter's gaze fell on Olivia. "Mr. Adams, why didn’t you get that girl any decent clothes after you took her in? Did you even give her any money?”
Alex replied with a low voice, "I did, but she didn’t like that.”
Peter smirked. "What girl wouldn't like money?"
"She's not the kind of girl you imagine. She's with me to pay for her mother's medical bills." Alex's voice was icy.
Peter couldn't help but sneer. "Ridiculous. With the Hall family's fortune, they can't afford medical bills?"
The assets under Toby's name were worth at least millions of dollars.
Alex said, "She has severed ties with the Hall family."
A hint of inexplicable meaning flashed across Peter's face. "Alex, could it be that you've taken a liking to her?"
Alex's expression suddenly changed. He said indifferently, "Nonsense."
A hint of amusement appeared in Peter's eyes, and his disdain towards Olivia gradually lessened.
He asked, "I heard she was Oliver's ex-girlfriend. If he finds out about this, won't he make trouble for you?"
Alex glanced at him coldly. "Do you have nothing better to do?"
Peter pursed his lips. "I have other matters to attend to. I'll leave first."
Alex turned and walked to Olivia's side, putting his arm around her as they walked into the villa.
Ruby had prepared a lot of food for dinner.
As they sat down to eat, Olivia asked, "Mr. Adams, I want to go to the hospital later to see my mom, is that okay?"
Alex replied, "Sure, let Milo take you there."
Olivia looked at him and said, "Mr. Adams, it's not necessary. I can go by myself."
Milo was Alex's senior assistant, and she preferred not to bother him.
As her words fell, Alex's gaze fell on her face. "Do you know how to drive?"
"No, I can take a taxi," Olivia stubbornly replied.
"Are you sure you can get a taxi here?"
Alex really wanted to pry open her head and see what was inside.
At his words, Olivia's face flushed with embarrassment. Indeed, this was a villa area where only wealthy people lived. There was no way she could get a taxi here.
After some thought, she said, "Then, please ask Milo to take me there."
A rare touch of tenderness flashed in Alex's eyes. "Okay."
After dinner, as Olivia reached the villa entrance, Milo drove the car over.
"Mr. Adams, I'll take Miss Hall first and come back to pick you up later," Milo said respectfully to Alex from the driver's seat.
Alex said, "No need, I'll drive back to the Adams villa myself."
Milo replied, "Alright."
Olivia turned around and walked up to Alex. She raised her tiptoes and gently kissed his lips.
Alex's lips were cool, thin, and, of course, suitable for kissing.
"Mr. Adams, I'm leaving."
Olivia's face turned crimson, red to the roots of her ears, as she turned around and ran off.
*****
Alex's tall figure stood still. After feeling Olivia's initiative and enthusiasm. Suddenly, his throat tightened, and a certain part of his body reacted...
His expression changed slightly, and suddenly, he had the urge to pull her back and tease her.
At the hospital entrance, after thanking Milo, Olivia prepared to get out of the car.
Milo respectfully said, "Miss Hall, I'll wait for you here until you are done."
Olivia said to him, "It's okay. You can go back first. I'll take a taxi back."
However, Milo said, “Mr. Adams has instructed me to do so. I must ensure your safety and take you back tonight."
Olivia nodded in agreement helplessly.
She gently closed the car door and stepped into the hospital.
As Olivia arrived at the ward's entrance, she saw Nancy and Rosa talk to the vice dean.
"Olivia, you are finally here. "
Seeing Olivia, Rosa hurriedly walked up to her.
She asked Olivia, "You actually managed to pay the medical bills. Where did you get the money from?"
Nancy quickly pushed Rosa away, displeased. "Rosa, watch your mouth.”
Then, Nancy walked up to Olivia's side and said gently, "Olivia, from now on, your mother's medical bills and your tuition will be covered by me. I am sorry about what I did in the past. I hope you can forgive me.”
At her words, Olivia's eyes immediately turned red.
She thought, ‘If it weren’t for your coercion, how would I have ended up in this situation? Why do you want to act nice to me now?’
Olivia's voice was cold. "No need, I can handle it myself. I don’t want to be involved with the Hall family anymore.”
There was a hint of determination in Olivia's voice.
Rosa exploded in anger. "How dare you say that? Even though you can pay the bill, the dean is the one who can decide what medication your mother is allowed to use.”
The vice dean standing on the side adjusted his glasses with a mysterious look on his face.
Nancy's face also turned extremely ugly. She said, "Olivia, you've just graduated and haven't found a job yet. How about I set up a date for you with a man?”
Olivia sneered internally as she realized Nancy’s intention.
She rejected coldly, "I'm not interested in finding a boyfriend right now, so please don't bother."
Olivia's voice carried a hint of resolve.
