IRENE’S POV
The first event of the Moonlight Festival was about to begin: the speed race. As I stood at the edge of the arena, watching the contestants take their places, I o served everybody present.
Each Pack had sent their fastest warriors, and from Golden Crescent Pack, I had chosen Leila, a strong middle-distance runner. She wasn’t as explosive as some of the sprinters, but her consistency and endurance were unmatched.
I turned to Leila, offering her a reassuring smile.
“Remember what we practiced. Keep your pace steady. Don’t get caught up in the competition too early. The final lap is where you’ll make your move.”
Leila nodded, all ready. “I won’t let you down, Luna.”
Just as the race began and the runners sprinted off, I heard a voice behind me.
“Well, well,” Thea sneered, walking up with her usual haughty expression. “Looks like your warrior is already falling behind. What a shame. But I suppose Golden Crescent is used to losing.”
