Chapter 13 Moving On

I looked around as I stepped into the principal's office with Mrs. Barlow.
"Good morning, Mrs. Barlow." He smiled as he saw us.
"Morning, Mr. Sanchez." She smiled back. "It's so nice of you to see us."
"Please sit." He told us. "Is this the girl?" He asked, turning to Mrs. Barlow.
"Yes, this is Amelia."
He nodded. "It's going to be a bit complicated processing her enrollment without her transcripts but I will see what I can do."
"I told you already why we don't have her transcripts." Mrs. Barlow offered.
I winced, hoping Mr. Sanchez didn't have the same flappy tongue as Mrs. Huckleberry or everyone in town would soon find out that I was an orphan adopted by Natasha.
He nodded and pressed a number on the telephone in his office, raising the receiver to his ear. "Please, come to my office, Joe."
A man in his thirties came into the office three minutes later, glanced at us briefly and then turned to the principal.
