The champagne in my system swirled around and loosened all of my worries. They’d floated away somewhere in the distance of my mind.
I didn’t care about my sister showing up or if the Capellos were going to retaliate. I was being whisked around the dancefloor by a very serious Fletcher.
He took dancing way more seriously than I thought he would. His brows were pulled inward between his dark eyes, and he watched his feet like a child learning to dance for the first time.
My laugh drew Fletcher’s gaze toward mine. “What’s so funny, Mrs. Hines?” he asked.
“You,” I said, playfully looking at my feet. “You’ve looked at your feet more than you have me,” I said.
“Funny,” Fletcher said pulling me flush with him. “I’m trying not to step on your toes. This is a courtesy to you, trust me.”
“Thank you for this again,” I said, smiling up at him.
Fletcher averted his gaze around the room. “I haven’t noticed your sister, have you? You saw her dress. Do you recognize it?"
