CHAPTER 194: THE TEMPTATION
Jake's alarm buzzed, cutting through the quietness that ensued after Gia's confession. It was time to wrap up and go home, but he ignored it.
"Surely you know I'm a married man, Gia?
"I know, you see. I met your wife during the visionaries’ award, and she is an amazing woman. You have to give her credit. But it was also sweet to see how supportive you were of her. But when the scandal with Sutton broke out, I was disappointed. You deserve better, Mr. Michael."
She was stroking his ego, and he knew it, more like a bait, he realized when she stood up and paced slowly around the room.
"Who are you to say what I do deserve or not, Gia? This is a sensitive matter, and I'm not interested."
She paused, a small smile on her face. Finally, she walked to the front of the table. It was large enough to keep her at bay, but Jake could still feel a rush of giddy excitement at this new territory. Wrong or not.
