CHAPTER 110: A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE
Samantha stood at the foot of their bed, packing the last of her things into a small suitcase. The room was filled with clothes and toiletries scattered all over. Jake leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, his brow furrowed.
"I still don't understand why you want to go to this conference," Jake said, his voice tinged with frustration. "Ian hasn't been in your life for years. What's the point?"
Samantha paused, her fingers lingering on a scarf. She took a deep breath before turning to face him. "Jake, it's not just about Ian. It's a great opportunity for me to network and learn. I thought you understood; plus, it's in New York. I thought it would be nice for us to get away for a bit. Turn it into a mini-vacation."
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I get that. I do. But you know how I feel about old relationships."
