Avery glanced at the clock After lounging in bed for a while. It was already 9:00 am. She looked at Mason and said, "Take your medicine and get some rest. I'll go make you something to eat."
Mason propped himself up on one arm, the other wrapped around her waist, keeping her close. "Let me hold you a little longer," he murmured.
Avery sighed, half exasperated, half amused. "Mr. Stone, you're way too clingy."
What Avery hadn't expected was how a man in his 30s could be so needy—and so good at being affectionate.
She still called him Mr. Stone, and his hand on her back tightened slightly as he pulled her closer. "Avery," he said softly, "you need to stop calling me Mr. Stone all the time."
Meeting his gaze, Avery saw her reflection in his eyes. It was the second time he'd asked her to change how she addressed him, and it made her smile.
She held his gaze for a while, letting the moment linger. Then, finally, she said his name, "Mason."
