"Huh?" Bethany's heart raced. She wanted to ask what was happening but noticed Jean waving her off.
"Forget it. Let's just follow the process." Jean returned to the judge's bench and started discussing something with her colleague.
Bethany felt a knot in her stomach. She had no idea what Trystan had said to Jean and instinctively glanced at him.
"Relax, I'm not taking Elysia away from you," he assured her, almost as if he could sense her unease.
Bethany started to unwind, but she was still curious about what he had mentioned to Jean.
They waited another ten minutes before the court session finally started. Everything went surprisingly smoothly as if they had reached an agreement beforehand. They didn't argue at all.
A juror sitting beside Jean shook his head. "Why not head for an uncontested divorce if they've already figured everything out? What's the point of dragging this into a trial?"
