Thane was so anxious that he arrived at Aurora’s building the next day an hour early. A terrible choice because he realized too late that it made him look thirsty. Which was why he sat in his car—without Ramos, his driver—and waited for the time to go by. When it seemed like time was slowly down, he drove three rounds around her block before texting her that he was downstairs.
It was ridiculous. He was a grown man, for God’s sake. Why were his palms sweaty and his heart racing at the thought of seeing Aurora today, whom he saw five days every week? Oh, wait. He knew why. Because today wasn’t a work day. He had no idea what nefarious plans his mother had for Aurora but he was fairly certain she would be spending the rest of the day at his place.
