CHAPTER HUNDRED AND TWENTY-NINE A FROZEN SHOULDER
JADE’S POV
As I wait for him to get here because he will, I go through what I'll say, or rather use as my excuse for not picking up or calling him either; nothing is working because he's too smart for most of the ideas I'm coming up with. It occurs to me why I am fabricating narratives and telling lies when I could simply tell him the truth; therefore, I resolve to do so. When he asks, I'll be honest with him, and we'll see where we go from there. It was the safest option, even if it was the most dangerous decision.
I'm still thinking about how to begin my narration when a car pulls up in front of me, and I automatically know that it's him. I could feel his presence from a mile away, so at least he didn't send someone else like his cousin to pick me up; if he did that, then I'd know that I was permanently screwed.
