I never believed in luck.
Most people were fortunate enough to win the lottery, but this was beyond insanity. I never believed in such luck.
There were pictures on the wall to prove things, but I was not fascinated by all of them. Not at all.
I saw the pictures on the wall. I saw those that I considered family. But none of them were familiar to me.
"What if it's the wrong girl?" I questioned him, still unable to accept my good fortune.
"If doubt had a face, With all these proofs, are you still doubting?"
"There's no harm in being cautious. I don't want to get my hopes high and then watch it burn." I inhaled sharply. "I don't want all these adversaries coming after me, and I can't even fight them."
I backed away from the pictures on the wall—from knight armor in a gold statue. It was not what I wanted for my life. I wanted a quiet life where I could die in peace.
