It was only those in the accounting department who had received the more detailed email. Mr. Grayson—Gerald Grayson—was retiring, the email had said. It also mentioned that there would be no official dinner for his departure until after the workshop, which, as far as I was concerned, was just more bullshit. If there were going to be drinks and an adequate supply of alcohol at the workshop, then I would excuse their delay.
There were only a few people in the world that, at the mention of their name, made my teeth grind on their own accord, and one of those names was Kathy Bell. The name alone made me freeze in place.
