Charlotte simply grumbled, saying nothing. Even when I pulled her back flush against me, her soft, plush body pressing against mine, I couldn’t help but grind slightly against her, wishing I could be even closer. But this would have to do, I told myself. I would have to be content with this level of intimacy, or lack thereof. I craved being with her so badly I could hardly think straight. I needed it as well. Instead, Charlotte remained quiet, her presence somehow still managing to affect me deeply.
“This woman doesn’t know what she’s doing,” I thought to myself. Her spun-gold hair and her almost perfect presence seemed to embody something beyond perfection. Everything about this moment felt right. She smiled softly, “I’ll see you tomorrow,” she said, her voice trailing off into a small, sweet sound. Despite how lovely the sound was, I let her go. I had to. At least if I didn’t want to spend the next few days alone in my apartment, I had to.
