Chapter 74: The Devil Wins

I was fidgeting in the ladies’ room, going back and forth about the direction of my curly hair until I simply settled on letting it fall loose and wild, mirroring the chaos I felt inside. “You’ve got this,” I said, poking my reflection in the mirror. “Right?” I muttered, the weight of my decision pressing heavily on my shoulders. “You do have this, right?” Maybe I was making a huge mistake. After all, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and I didn’t know what had come over me when I said yes.
“It’s her,” I heard the angel on my shoulder say. “It’s all her.” She jabbed an accusatory finger toward my left, incidentally where the devil was sitting, filing her nails.
Where did I even get these funny ideas from? I asked myself as I reached up and began scratching my eyes. This was basically the definition of allowing your imagination to run wild, and I was letting it spin senselessly as it stood. I was simply inviting more chaos into my already stable life.
