Joseph stroked Samantha's brows over and over, murmuring comfortingly, "Shh, it's okay, Samantha. Riley's fine. Trust me, he's safe right now. Don't worry, you're only dreaming. Riley will be fine. Don't let the dream trick you…"
His voice was low and soft as he reassured Samantha. After a while, her brows relaxed.
Joseph pulled out a piece of tissue from the box on the nightstand and gently dabbed it across her sweaty forehead. He made sure she had gone back to sleep before he turned off the lights and quietly eased back into bed.
