Chapter 4 Steal What Belonged To Me
The corridor was not spacious after all, and Edward was surprised to see me there as well. He then adjusted his shirt and voiced out, “Miss Moore, I’m here for Anna.”
Edward was Curtis’s best friend. Some said that by observing how your husband’s best friends treated you, then only would you know if a man truly loved you or not.
There was no need for me to observe how he treated me. I already knew just by listening how Edward addressed me. I, Julia Moore, seemed to have only one name –– Miss Moore.
What a polite and distant name!
Nevertheless, people should never be too bothered by tiny things, or else I would get depressed. Thus, I let Edward through and answered him with a smile, “Alright, they’re in the guest room!”
Sometimes, I really was jealous of Anna because she could enjoy the warmth by just shedding tears. The warmth that I could not have even after I had worked hard for it.
After I went back to the bedroom, I searched for a set of clothes that Curtis had never worn before. Later, I left the bedroom with the clothes and went to the living room.
Edward did a quick check-up on Anna. He was about to leave the villa after he had checked Anna’s temperature and prescribed some antipyretics for her.
While walking down the stairs, Edward saw me standing in the living room. Hence, he smiled and uttered, “It’s late now. Why don’t you get some sleep?”
“Yeah, just a while more!” I passed him the set of clothes and explained, “Your clothes are wet, and it’s still raining out there. Please change before you leave so you won’t catch a cold.”
Edward was shocked, maybe because of me offering him the clothes. Nonetheless, he still smiled and replied to me, “There’s no need. I’m strong, and it won’t be a big deal!”
I still placed the clothes in his hands and insisted. “Curtis has not worn it before, and the tag’s still there. Both of you are almost the same size, so just put it on!”
After finishing my sentence, I went up to my bedroom.
I was not that kind-hearted at all. Back then, when my grandmother was admitted to the hospital, Edward was her surgeon. He was a well-known surgeon, so he would never agree to operate on my grandmother if the Blake family did not butt in. That set of clothes was considered me returning a favor.
The following day.
The morning after a heavy storm, the sunlight was tinged with the smell of earth. I am an early riser, and I went downstairs after I freshened myself up. Curtis and Anna were already in the kitchen.
Curtis was wearing a black apron, and his figure was slender when he was standing by the stove, frying eggs. His cold and powerful aura faded, left with only the smell of smoke.
Anna‘s pair of shiny and dark eyes were observing Curtis from top to toe. It seemed like she just recovered from the fever as her delicate little face was still flushed. Anna was cute and charming.
“Brother Curtis, I want my egg to be more burnt.” While Anna was speaking, she fed Curtis a strawberry before she went on. “Not too burnt, though. Otherwise, it’ll taste bitter.”
Curtis was chewing on the strawberry while he glanced at Anna once with his dark eyes. Even though he did not say a word, his gaze was filled with tons of unconditional love.
A handsome man and gorgeous lady. A glamorous couple. They were really a good match!
That scene was kind of sweet with warm and romantic interactions.
“They’re really a good pair, aren’t they?” A voice came from behind, and I was stunned to realize it was from Edward. I nearly forgot that it was raining cats and dogs the day before, and Anna had a high fever as well. Therefore, Curtis would never let Edward go back home.
“Good morning!” I greeted him with a smile on my face. Then, my gaze rested on Edward’s clothes. It was the set of clothes that I handed to him last night.
Upon realizing my gaze, Edward lifted his brows and smiled at me. “It suits me well. Thank you.”
However, I shook my head. “Please, don’t be!” Actually, I bought those for Curtis, but he never touched them before.
Anna probably heard something, so she turned and roared at us, “Sis Julia, Brother Edward, both of you’re awake. Brother Curtis had fried some eggs. Come and have some!”
Her tone was as though she was the queen in this home.
I answered Anna with a smile, “It’s fine. I bought some bread and milk yesterday. It’s in the fridge. You’ve just recovered from a fever, so you should drink more milk.” After all, I had stayed here for 2 years, so my name and Curtis’ name were on the title deed.
Even if I was weak and soft, I was unwilling to let somebody steal what belonged to me.
