Chapter 14 Do You Think That Edward Will Like You?

I knew that Curtis was angry, so I bid Emily farewell and walked to his side obediently. I lowered my head and said, “Thank you!” Curtis glanced at me coldly. His eyes were so dark and deep that I could not see through him. He then said indifferently, “Get into the car!” I did not dare to say anything else and just got into the car obediently. Halfway through the journey, I received Emily’s message that she had gotten home, so I replied to her and asked her to head to bed earlier. Then, I looked at the scenery outside the car’s window. It was the rainy season. At the moment, the air was hot and humid, so it seemed like it was going to rain soon. At first, I planned on driving Curtis’ jeep, but he took the car keys upstairs. Thus, I had no choice but to go to the garage and drive a car that had a lower chassis. At 1:00 AM, I only managed to buy the supper after driving across half of the city. I thought that I was lucky that it had not rained. However, when I walked out of the Smith Restaurant, the sky started rumbling as heavy rain fell while lighting and thunder flashed. It was a heavy downpour. I then started driving back. Lots of tunnels and roads would be flooded during Riverville’s rainy season, so I deliberately avoided going through any tunnels. Although the journey back would take longer, at least there would not be floods. However, no matter how I planned, I did not expect that the car would break down halfway. There was still quite a distance from the villa as I had taken a longer route and drove slowly. The area I was in was also remote. Moreover, it was raining heavily, so it was impossible to get a taxi at that moment. I looked at my phone and saw there was not much battery left. I did not have any other choice, so I called Curtis. However, no one answered even after a few calls. Seeing that my phone was about to shut down, I had no choice but to find an umbrella in the car, take the food, and get out. I then started to walk along the road back to the villa.
