Shirley rushed out after Drakon, who was raging through the woods. By all indications, he was hell-bent on returning to the city and fighting a lost war. Shirley knew he wasn't thinking straight but was clouded by rage and a sense of failure.
She caught up to him. "Drakon, wait! You have to stop because you can't win!"
Drakon scoffed. "You think? My people are being killed and subjected to suffering, and I can't sit out here, waiting for the right time because such a time will never come!"
"Think about it! These Shadow wolves are difficult to fight off, Drakon. Three might not be a problem, but what about a whole army of them? There's a mage with them too!"
Drakon still wouldn't listen. He stopped and turned to Shirley, his eyes set like stone. "Have you ever had something you love taken from you, and you're helpless about doing anything about it?"
