CHAPTER 133: SHADOWS OF DECEPTION
With Dahlia gone, the spell keeping Drakon alive began to weaken. Zack's heart pounded as he watched the Alpha's laboured breathing; each gasp sent chills through his spine. The dimly lit room had some incense burning at the window frame, filling the air.
He ran a hand through his hair, glancing at the clock. "She should be back by now," he muttered to himself. The minutes felt like hours as he paced back and forth.
A knock on the door broke his thoughts. One of his soldiers, a young werewolf named Dean, entered with a grim expression. "Sir, the council has declared a curfew," Dean reported. "They've also sent soldiers to attack Dahlia on her way back."
Zack's eyes widened in alarm. "What? Why wasn't I informed earlier?"
"It seems the council wanted to keep it under wraps," Dean replied, shifting uneasily. "They're making decisions that don't align with Drakon's rulership. People are getting scared, Zack."
