Henry slowly opened his eyes, groggily taking in his surroundings.
His head was pounding, a dull ache that seemed to reverberate through every cell in his body.
He tried to sit up, but a wave of nausea washed over him, forcing him back onto the pillow.
He lay there for a moment, trying to gather his strength.
Finally, he mustered the energy to sit up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
He rubbed his temples, trying to massage away the pain.
His mouth felt dry and sour, a reminder of the whiskey he had drunk the night before.
He stumbled out of bed and staggered to the bathroom, flipping on the light switch and squinting in the bright glare.
He fumbled for the shower faucet, turning it on and waiting for the water to warm up.
As he waited, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and winced.
His eyes were bloodshot, his skin pale and clammy.
As the shower sprayed down on him, Henry felt some of the tension in his body begin to ease.
