Gold necklaces, bracelets, rings, pearls, agates, crystals. Lucy wondered if Hans had cleared out an entire store.
She had guessed correctly; he had practically emptied half the jewelry store.
She soon noticed the note he had left behind. His handwriting was bold and powerful, reflecting the strong character of its writer. The note listed what he needed—bread, biscuits, and medicine for treating enteritis.
She had to buy everything on the list! With so much gleaming gold, there was no room for hesitation. Some of the necklaces and bracelets were so beautifully designed that she didn't even want to sell them.
But selling them was essential if she wanted more money.
First, she had to figure out how to deal with the jewelry. Pulling out a large suitcase from under her bed, she started packing the pocket space's contents. A few necklaces she fancied went straight onto her neck.
