Chapter 13
At the Qualls residence, Marrie called Heidi and asked, "What's the situation? Have you found Steven?"
"Not yet. I have no idea where he's hiding," Heidi reported.
"He's blind. Where could he even go? Find him quickly and kill him!"
As the events of that day came to mind, Marrie's fury and murderous intent flared.
"Do you have to go that far? I didn't kill you, but you want to hunt me down?"
Steven's voice suddenly rang out behind Marrie, startling her.
"You can stop looking. He's at my house. Come over quickly."
After Marrie told Heidi that, she hung up, her expression cold.
"You've got a lot of nerve to come back. Do you think my house is a place you can come and go as you please?"
"You want to kill me, don't you? I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find me, so I decided to come here and let you kill me."
While Steven's expression was calm, his eyes never left Marrie.
Marrie's flawless figure was still marred by what he had done earlier in the day. It gave him a sense of satisfaction.
Marrie noticed that Steven's gaze was fixed on her. If she hadn't known Steven as a blind man, she would've suspected that his vision was intact.
"Do you actually believe I wouldn't dare to kill you?"
Marrie's gaze was chilling.
"You're a vicious woman. Is there anything you wouldn't dare to do?"
As Steven spoke, he took a seat next to Marrie.
Marrie immediately rose to put some distance between herself and Steven.
She intended to drag this out as long as possible while Heidi hurried over.
"Truth be told, I never wanted to kill you. But you had the nerve to do that to me. You deserve to die!" Marie taunted.
She gritted her teeth. She was secretly confused as to why Steven had returned after escaping. She wondered if he truly had no fear of death, or if he had some kind of support and believed she couldn't kill him.
She waved that thought away. There was no way a blind, worthless man who had been tortured for two years would be able to find any kind of support.
Marrie remained perplexed.
Steven shrugged. "We've already done that. I don't regret it. Of course, if you don't mind, we can have another go since Heidi's not here yet."
"Go to hell, you bastard!"
Marrie stomped her feet, shaking in anger. She grabbed a pillow and threw it at Steven.
"You're angry? What's there for you to be angry about? What I did was nothing compared to what you and your daughter have done to me. I haven't even recouped much of what I lost, and it's already too much for you?"
Steven's every word infuriated Marrie.
She couldn't understand how Steven had completely changed overnight. It was as if he had been possessed.
Marrie suppressed her anger and sneered, "I know why you came back. You realized that you can't keep yourself alive and will suffer out there even if you escape, so you came back to annoy me and look for attention."
"Whatever you say," Steven snorted.
Steven couldn't be bothered to explain. He closed his eyes and leaned back against the couch to rest.
He was worried that if he looked at Marrie any longer, he would pin her down on the couch and do it right then and there.
Steven was still quite particular about those kinds of things. If Heidi happened to walk in on them at a crucial moment, it would ruin his mood.
The two fell silent. Marrie was waiting for Heidi. Steven was waiting as well.
Within half an hour, Heidi reached the Qualls residence.
"Are you alright, madam?"
Marrie beamed as soon as she saw Heidi, feeling relieved.
"I'm alright. Kill him right now!"
Marrie pointed at Steven, who was resting his eyes on the couch.
"You're finally here."
Steven opened his eyes. Standing up and stretching languidly, he said, "Hurry up and strike. Don't waste my time."
Heidi was the person Marrie trusted the most. She was her housekeeper, as well as her bodyguard. She was a skilled third-level fighter.
Without another word, Heidi swung her leg toward Steven, kicking him in the head.
Steven swung out a punch. There wasn't any technique to his punch. It was all brute force.
His raw strength was greater than any technique.
As a Heavenly Realm Grandmaster, he overwhelmed the trained fighter with ease.
Heidi was launched backward, slamming into a wall before sinking to the ground. One of her legs had been maimed. She had lost the ability to fight.
Marrie was left gaping in disbelief.
Steven walked to a corner and lifted Heidi with his hand around her throat.
"You're too weak!"
"How… How are you so strong?"
Heidi was incredulous.
She was well aware of Steven's condition. Even Yanny could torture him as she liked. She had beaten him up like a dog, even coming close to killing him the night before. It was absurd for him to have grown so powerful overnight.
"You did me a favor by dumping me into the Levix River, so I'm sparing your life today. I won't kill you."
After saying that, Steven grabbed Heidi's right arm and snapped it. He had broken one of her arms and legs but kept her alive.
He promptly tapped Heidi's pressure point, and she instantly fell unconscious.
He dragged her into the basement, tossing her into the dark room where he had previously lived.
When he returned to the living room, Marrie had put on a piece of clothing and was about to flee.
"Where are you going?"
Steven strode toward Marrie and blocked her path.
"You… You're not blind! And you've learned to fight?"
"Yes!"
"How did you do that? That's impossible!"
Marrie was at a loss.
"Take your time to figure it out. I only got a little payback earlier, and now I want more," Steven said, grinning.
"What are you doing? You can't touch me!"
Marrie quickly backed away, unable to maintain her commanding posture of a powerful woman.
Steven didn't care. The wicked desire he had been holding in check was ablaze. Putting his arms around Marrie's waist, he picked her up and headed for the bedroom upstairs.
"Let me go, you little shit!"
Marrie smacked Steven's chest with her fists. To him, it felt like a tickle. It seemed more like she was flirting with him.
Marrie never imagined that Steven would treat her like this again.
Steven raised his hand and spanked Marrie's butt repeatedly, the sound crisp and pleasant.
This was his punishment for Marrie. It allayed the anger and hatred he had bottled up inside for two years.
Though Marrie kept screaming, she realized with shame that she seemed to be enjoying this feeling a little.
"Steven, stop hitting me. I really can't take it anymore." Marrie pleaded, her brows covered with sweat. She was a normal person after all and couldn't take too much beating.
Knowing better than to push too far, Steven stopped.
At that moment, a knock sounded at the door.
Steven and Marrie were both startled.
Steven was displeased that someone was interrupting them. It was ruining the mood.
Naturally, Marrie was afraid someone would see her being bullied by Steven. It would be humiliating.
"She can't possibly be awake already."
Steven was confused. He had hit Heidi's pressure point. She wouldn't wake up in less than 12 hours.
"Mom, are you in there?"
Yanny's voice came through the door. She was back.
A playful grin appeared on Steven's face when he heard Yanny's voice. The situation was becoming quite interesting, which amused him.
Once Marrie realized Yanny was back, she was panicked and scared.
She couldn't let Yanny find out about her and Steven.
She couldn't even bear to imagine what would happen if Yanny walked in and saw this.
Even more terrifying to her was the thought that the bastard, Steven, would turn into a beast and attack Yanny as well.
