Cordelia was startled and thought, 'How did things get so serious overnight?'
"If he does, what then?"
Alaric's expression was grave. "It could be troublesome. At worst, it might leave behind lingering issues, causing pain whenever the weather turns bad, rendering him unable to do heavy labor. But if he rests properly, he could recover without much difference from before."
Cordelia nodded, casting a worried glance at Benedict, who sat calmly on the sofa and showed no sign of distress.
'He is remarkably composed. If I were told my hand might become useless, I'd be terrified,' Cordelia wondered.
But Benedict seemed indifferent as if he were listening to someone else's affairs, utterly unconcerned.
After the examination, Victor escorted Alaric out.
Benedict's voice rumbled low. "Go change. We're going out later."
"Am I coming too?" Cordelia pointed to herself.
"You're responsible for my hand."
