CHAPTER 4
DIANA'S POV
The heaviness of the broom was pulling me back, slowing me down, although it shouldn't. My arms ached, my chest scorched, and my vision misted over a little, but I kept sweeping.
Back and forth.
Repeatedly.
The floor was spotless, I had made sure of it. But Lily had intentionally knocked over a rubbish bag that morning, and the smashed fragments had strewn the grand hall.
She had smiled at me when she did it, the quiet taunt in her eyes, before she'd turned and left.
I hadn't said anything.
There was no point.
Some of the glass snapped with a crunch under my broom as I shoveled it into a great mound. My breath came hard, and a fierce wave of dizziness overtook me. I stopped, clutching the broom tightly to steady myself.
Not now.
Not here.
I just can't risk losing my feet here, I can't have anyone on their guard.
I clenched my teeth, pushing black spots that danced across my vision away. I closed my eyes for a couple of minutes and then shake my head to push the
