FIVE HUNDRED YEARS AGO
With the four of them fighting against Marcus and his partner, they managed to get away. They wounded them enough to keep them from following them and got to their hideout safely.
The hideout was a dry river cave in River’s End’s territory. It was well-hidden, and Raine said not many people knew about it. Even fewer could find their way inside it. During the rainy season, it flooded and was inaccessible. Raine led them several metres inside until they came to a large chamber with a pond on one end.
“I’ll get the lamps,” he said, shifting and walking further into the chamber.
By the time he had all the lamps lit, they had all shifted and dressed. Fortunately, they had been able to grab their clothes from the cabin when getting away.
Before Rose could ask Raine why there was a bed in the cave, Andrew turned to her, his eyes taking her in. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine,” she told him.
