“Not a word," the woman said.
"Surely that can't be." He tried to negotiate with her, but she wasn't having it, as Frederick could clearly see.
"Can't I at least use a phone?" he asked, pointing towards the bright red landline standing beside him.
"It's against pack policy."
He rolled his eyes. "Pack policy," he thought to himself. The large red letters that occupied every street in Skywater Pack were enough for him to tell they hated technology. Even in the smallest doses, it was infectious, they claimed.
"Fine, then perhaps a letter. Surely she should have sent something. She knows that I'm looking for her. Anything?" he asked the female again.
"Then would you perhaps like to come and do my job for me?" she asked rudely.
"Then perhaps a letter," Frederick said, conceding even though he hated the thought. His wolf did not agree with it one bit.
"No letters have come from Stormbroke, and certainly none from a young woman called Talia."
