558: FRANTIC
ARIEL'S POV
"Mom?" I called out, but no response.
My heart was racing as I quickly walked towards her, crouching down to touch her face. She was unresponsive, her skin cold and clammy. "Mom, wake up," I whispered urgently, tapping her lightly on the cheek.
But she remained motionless, her eyes closed, her breathing shallow. Panic began to rise in my chest, and I frantically scanned the room for any clues. My eyes caught sight of the small box of pills on the coffee table; the lid opened, and my blood ran cold.
Without thinking, I grabbed my phone and called 911. "Please, I need help," I said, my voice shaking. "My mother's unconscious; I think she's overdosed."
The operator on the other end of the line remained calm, talking me through what to do. "Okay, ma'am. Is she breathing?"
"Yes, but barely," I replied, feeling more and more frantic.
"Alright, I need you to stay calm and help me. We'll get her to the hospital. Can you get her to a car?"
