Chapter 23

Iris felt as if a bloody gash was sliced through her heart. Even so, she smiled faintly, lowered her eyes, and brushed her slender fingers against Thomas' chest. "I'll always stay with you, Thomas," she said, her voice quivering as she looked up at him with her alluring gaze. "But if you touch another woman, my body would no longer be yours—you'll find me in bed with every other man!" Iris' heart was torn open. She knew that her words would infuriate him and cut her off from any escape. Even so, it hurt her more than dying to think that Thomas would touch another woman. Suddenly, she understood her mother's resolve. She had told Iris back then that she was sleeping around because of a certain man. Iris did not get it at the time, but she understood a little now. That man had broken Eva’s heart. In retaliation, Eva had affairs with every man whom he had business relationships with. Every man who ever worked with that man would fall for her, and Iris was not that man's child! S
