I sat on the couch, staring blankly at the glass of whiskey in my hand, swirling the amber liquid absentmindedly.
I was conflicted.
Confused.
Ever since Alicia made that deal with him, things between us had felt... off.
The way she talked earlier, there had been hesitation in her tone, like she was holding something back. And when I asked her about the wedding, she answered too quickly—almost too rehearsed, like she was trying to convince herself more than me.
