Alicia Davenport I turn the engine off as I arrive at the location. Taking a deep breath, I step out of the car and head towards the lake—the place where everything started between me and Daniel. Now, all of those moments are only memories. I don’t know why I chose this place to meet Nicholas, knowing full well that the lake holds so many memories for me. Maybe it’s the calmness, the way the water always seems so still no matter how chaotic my mind is. Something about it brings me peace, even though it also carries the sting of the past.
