Chapter Thirty Seven: Abducted
"Have you eaten?" Akila asked Layla over the phone. She bit into the doughnut she had gotten herself for lunch, and washed it down with some juice.
"Yes. The food you brought are really delicious. They will last longer than a week."
"Eh!" Akila scrunched her nose. "You better feed well. You know Derek has to feed off you, and that one is a voracious eater."
Layla laughed. "Don't insult my son."
"I didn't call him a glutton. That wasn't an interesting insult."
"You've called him that now. Godmother Akila said you eat too much, is that true?" Layla asked Derek away from the phone.
Derek babbled a string of incoherent words as his response, and both Layla and Akila laughed.
Akila snickered, raising the side of her finger to the tip of her nose.
"He is very mad at you," Layla said.
"I believe that's what all the retorts mean." Akila laughed again. "I should get going. My lunchtime is almost over, and I haven't finished it yet."
