CHAPTER 30 THE STORY OF RAY
Susan nodded, a hint of sadness flickering in her eyes. "Exactly. It's my way of reconnecting with that part of myself, of finding solace in the chaos of this world," she confessed, her voice soft.
Juliet placed a comforting hand on Susan's arm. "Well, in that case, we'll take it slow. We'll finish the walk, but at your pace," she assured her.
A grateful smile spread across Susan's face. "Thank you, Juliet. You're too kind," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
As they resumed their stroll, Susan leaned on Juliet for support, her steps slower and more deliberate. But despite her discomfort, there was a sense of peace in her eyes, a quiet determination to persevere.
As they approached the end of their walk, Susan's strength began to wane, her steps faltering.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Juliet asked, concern lacing her voice.
Susan nodded weakly, her breath coming in shallow gasps. "I'll be fine. Just need to rest for a moment," she assured her, sinking onto a nearby bench.
