MAGNAR’S POV
Bernard’s fists slammed into the punching bag over and over again, his knuckles turning red from the force of his hits. Each blow sent the bag swinging violently, his frustration pouring into every strike. He was really angry and all that anger was reserved for me.
I stood there, unable to move, unable to look away. My best friend—the one person I thought would always be on my side—was slipping away from me, and I had no idea how to stop it.

I couldn’t let that happen.
I had to do something.
My mind raced, grasping for anything, any leverage, that would turn the tide in my favor. And then, like a drowning man catching hold of a rope, I found it.
“Wait—how can you accuse me when you’re no better than me?” I snapped, stepping forward and shoving him back slightly just to make him face me.
He stopped mid-punch, his eyes narrowing as he turned toward me. There it was. The fire. The challenge.
Now I had his attention.
