"The door on your left," Gary murmured to Xina, directing her where to go, his tone gentle yet firm. Before she could move further, he caught her hand, pulling her close until her small frame was pressed against his chest, his back now leaning against the door. Xina found herself enveloped in his strong embrace, her heart racing as she rested her head against his chest, trying to steady her breath. The scent of him, earthy and warm, filled her senses, grounding her in the moment. She could feel the steady beat of his heart beneath her cheek, a reassuring rhythm that contrasted with the turmoil of emotions swirling inside her.
