CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY ONE – A ROUGH ADJUSTMENT
As they drove home in silence, Karina couldn't stop the tears from falling. Miguel reached over, squeezing her hand.
"I'm sorry," he said softly. "I shouldn't have let your father get to me like that."
Karina shook her head. "It's not your fault. They've been like this ever since we announced the pregnancy. I just... I don't know how to make them understand."
When they arrived home, Karina headed straight for the bedroom, emotionally drained. Miguel followed, hesitating at the doorway.
"Karina," he began, his voice filled with concern. "Talk to me. Please."
She turned to face him, her eyes red and puffy. "I feel so torn, Miguel. They're my family, but you're my family too. I don't know how to bridge this gap."
Miguel sat beside her on the bed, pulling her into his arms. "We'll figure it out together. I promise."
