Ava's eyes narrowed, her carefully crafted facade cracking ever so slightly. "I was just about to get to that part, Scarlett," she snapped, her voice laced with irritation.
Before Scarlett could respond, a young boy raised his hand, his face scrunched in confusion. "Miss Ava, why are you talking about dogs? I thought we were here to see all the animals."
A ripple of agreement spread through the group, and Scarlett couldn't help but feel a twinge of satisfaction. Ava's attempt at grandstanding had backfired, and the children's interest had been captured by the real stars of the show – the animals themselves.
